Overview:
Fully licensed home remodeler (MHIC 6411) and fully licensed home builder (MHBR 3725), Sun Spots Inc., now SSI HOMES, was established 1976 as a full-service contracting firm specializing in sloped glazing and home remodeling. Through its outstanding reputation and quality of work, the company quickly outgrew its one room office, and moved to a larger office and showroom in Arnold, MD. Employing many local personnel, including some of his children, Joe Garvey grew the company even further in 1983 with the purchase of a Four Seasons Sunrooms Franchise. This opportunity was the value-added proposition that clients were looking for. Fulfilling the need of bright open living spaces, Sun Spots, Inc. incorporated the high-performance Four Seasons Sunrooms into their expansive room additions and high-end renovation work. Once again in need of a larger space, the company relocated to Millersville, MD in 1986 and occupied a combined office, showroom, and warehouse. With this centralized location, Sun Spots, Inc. was better positioned to service the greater central Maryland homeowners who desired its products and services. Projects over the next fifteen years ranged from high-end commercial glazing projects to high-end residential remodeling and sunrooms. Typically employing a trained and highly qualified work force, Sun Spots, Inc. was able to expand its client base during this time to about 800 homeowners. Customer service was always at the forefront of the Sun Spots, Inc. business ethic and the company continued to grow. In 1997, Joe Garvey sold the business to his son Dave Garvey. Joe continues to act as a consultant and his extensive experience is a huge asset. In January 2003, it was again time to relocate the company to its current high-visibility location off US Route 50 just prior to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Once settled into this new location, Dave Garvey decided to further branch the business into custom home building, while improving upon the company s existing and proven cadre of products and services such as room additions, remodeling, kitchens, baths, and sunrooms. With a full-time staff including sales consultants, designers, administrative assistants, bookkeeper, production manager, and construction crews, Sun Spots, Inc. is truly a leader in the construction field servicing central Maryland and the Delmarva. In 2005, Sun Spots, Inc. began trading as SSI Homes while maintaining the corporate substructure of Sun Spots, Inc.
